With
the release of Lovers Vow on Rockit Records, Bruce Smith
again proves his reputation as a convention-breaking
songwriter, and justifies the critical acclaim he has
received.
On his latest release,
Smith rolls up his sleeves and dives headfirst into
Americana. While his songs are populated by fast cars,
urban landscapes and pretty girls always just out of
reach, what makes the album special is the ironic way
Smith describes every price paid for love and how he
understands that redemption often comes along in
unexpected ways. Add to that rollicking rhythms, choruses
that you can't get out of your head, and a kick-ass band
blasting their way through terrific rock and roll
arrangements and you have music that one critic called
" …bristling… intelligent and accessible".
Lovers Vow is quickly
becoming a favorite on college radio, and is receiving
heavy airplay across the country, with music directors
claiming this is a "great album" by a
"talented outfit". Look for the Bruce Smith Band
to come to a station near you soon.
A veteran of New York
City's club scene and a favorite at music festivals across
the country, Smith plays regularly at The Bottom Line,
Mercury Lounge and Rodeo Bar in NYC, The Birchmere in
Washington, D.C. and The Middle East in Boston. He has
played with such notables as Nils Lofgren and Lisa Loeb.
The Bruce Smith Band has also received critical acclaim
from Billboard Magazine, Alternative Press and his first
CD, Get The Picture, was featured in Performing
Songwriter magazine as one of 1998's top
independent releases
